Re: cold air blast from hack windshield??

I changed out the hardware holding the windshield and used locknuts & spring washers to create a bit of a friction fit on the bolts so it can be raised & lowered as needed. I run with it down under the cover most of the time and raise it when the wife comes along, takes only a few seconds to set it...

Re: cold air blast from hack windshield??

A lot of us don't like the stock tub shield for the reason you mentioned. My first Ural. on the fly-n-ride home I removed the tub shield after day one. If the wife just has to have a tub shield i would recommend you check into a Brooklands type screen. There are still a couple knock-off manufacture...

Re: just incase you missed the 2019 improvements!

Question on heat issue. (Sorry for the hijack.) I’m new to Ural, I’m sure this has been asked and answered more than once. How hot should the cylinder heads get? I ran for 100km yesterday in 45-50 degree temps. When putting the bike up in the garage it just had a “hot” smell to it. I touched the he...

Re: cold air blast from hack windshield??

When solo I fold the OEM windshield under the tonneau cover. With a passenger I just deal with it as of now. Some guys have swapped to aftermarket windshields that sit farther forward on the tub but they usually require drilling mounting holes. thanks for your response, i didn't notice this much wh...

cold air blast from hack windshield??

Okay heard this mentioned once before but i really noticed it this morning. bought a new jacket and noticed at about 40 mph the blast of cold air on my right arm and side. i could feel the air with my hand hitting the shield and bouncing off and hitting my side. i know Duh!, just get a thicker warme...

Re: just incase you missed the 2019 improvements!

Damn it!!! Now my mind is cranking over again. See what you've gone and done. LOL I've moved from Indiana last March to the Mohave desert in Arizona. So cooling air and lubrication have become important issues to me. The first thing I'll need to do with a new 2019 Ural is remap the ECU. Because all...

Re: just incase you missed the 2019 improvements!

No, forward movement of the machine will force enough air through the cooling tin. I'm sure if a cooling fan was somehow installed. It would help. However now we're getting into to much over engineering. At that point we'd be better off retrofitting a liquid cooling system. Hummm🤔 seems to be a pos...

Re: just incase you missed the 2019 improvements!

(Snakeoil) You my friend have stated one of the most interesting and promising facts about air cooled horizontally oppose engines. In regards to cooling tins. Just as the VW bug, Continental and Lycoming aircraft engines have used. It my not be so unsightly if the cooling tins were mounted below th...

I agree with Lokiboy, the seepage is normal should find it underside also. plugs look good to. i thing i would ride and enjoy. Urals are odd machines someday they seem to run smother than others. i for one don't like the idea of re torquing the heads just the recommended by some of a test feel with...

Re: 2016 CT tire tube problems

my 2016 GU check every 2 weeks only maybe 1 -2 pounds all around. think i would put in a full set of premium HD tubes and double check the rim band or replace. with good tubes and installation done correct, you will be good to go.

Re: Hard starting '14.

When I do a leak on aircraft engine. Get the cylinder being checked on top dead center. Place the test set in cylinder, adjust regulator to 80 psi then see what the cylinder Gauge reads. You have to be able to keep the engine turning when doing this. The difference from the regulator pressure and t...

Re: Leaking pushrod tube

Well, it's far worse than I though. After checking L sided compression at around 119psi. the R came in at 30. No spark plug is gonna fix that. After getting the chair far enough away to get the head and cylinder off, the carnage was terrible. Oh poop. :( yeah i feel the same way, shame such a new Ur...
