Re: 2WD Lever Stuck
OK, in spirit of helping other noobs to Urals like me, I’ll throw myself under the bus and confess what the problem was. I was trying to move the 2WD Lever the wrong direction! Duh!!! I had forgotten that you have to pull it out beyond the stop and move it rearward. Everyone feel free to poke all th...

Re: Weird Chassis Noise
Just to close the loop on this one, the only things I could that was loose were a couple of nuts on the "wishbone" of the Rear Suspension Swing Arm where it connects to the FD. I could tighten two of them about 1/8 turn. That seems to have made the sound go away. Thanks to everyone for their input! ...

Re: Oil Dipstick Indications?
Every other bike and car I’ve owned has had "calibrated" marks on the dipstick...usually 1quart or liter between marks. The Ural's probably calibrated for Vodka sized shot glasses  One shot of oil to bring it halfway, a second shot of oil to bring it to the top of the mark. ROFL Mike S. Stamfo...

Oil Dipstick Indications?
When checking the oil (cold) the oil level was down half-way on the dipstick between the bend and the tip. I assumed that was roughly 1/2 quart/liter low. After adding 1/2 quart the oil is now measuring a good 1.5 inches above the bend. Two questions: 1. How is the dipstick calibrated? 2. Given the ...

2WD Lever Stuck
2018 GU with 2100 miles on the clock: The 2WD lever will not budge. I've tried it when stopped (engine running and off), while moving forward in first gear (slightly turning both left and right), and while moving in reverse. It doesn’t budge the slightest amount. It worked fine last time I tried a f...

Noob Question - Nacelle Wiring Access?
What is the easiest way to get to the dash wiring underneath the headlight nacelle? Thanks! (Moving things around just a bit. Adding a Fuzeblock for additional electrical accessories.) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180414/42a1068228a5c3de688d37228220ef14.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: New England meet-ups
Looks like Friday, 4/13 in Kent CT. around 10 am. Weather looks perfect! See you at the gas station. The roads you suggested sound great. I’ve ridden them a bunch on other bikes. Dirt is fine. Too bad they’ve closed North Kent Road...that was a favorite. (Though there is still Easter Mountain Road....

Re: 2018 Urals
[quote="windmill"]There's two issues in consideration, the limitations of the system, and the less than ideal mixtures required to meet emission standards. The EJK is incapable of doing anything about the former, the latter can only be lean, ideal, or rich. The off road map is the ideal.[quote] I be...

Re: 2018 Urals
.... So we will experience a lot of elevation (and climate!) changes. ..... EFI doesn't care about altitude changes. Of 4 Urals that went to THAG Eclipse 2017, only the carb Urals had to change needles for altitude. My particular altitude range was 4500' to 9800', zero issues. YMMV I’ll be going fr...

Re: Passing the Hat for Donations - Server Rent is Due Again!!!
Howdy Fellow Steeds, I always tell folks that want to donate thru the year to wait until we pass the hat to cover the server rent. Well, the server rent is due in early May, so it's time to pass the hat again. It costs about $1500 a year for server hosting (we use a lot of bandwidth and storage) an...

Since it’s both lights, I’d suspect the ground lead is faulty since it is common to both

Re: Engine Revving When Shifting - 2018 GU
It can be done by running a lead from the yellow wire on the speedo and wrapping it around the sparkplug wire, or connecting it to gray/white wire on right coil. http://www.acewell-meter.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/CA-085-1XX_2XX-Series-V01-USER-MANUAL-EN-20150211.pdf IMO the wrapping around the...

I guess the question is what the requirements are for a 2018 model? Has anyone developed specs?windmill wrote:They're not hard to make.Camel Jockey wrote:
Hi! I understand that you sell the OBD II cables. I’d be interested in purchasing one.
