Magnet on oil filter

Postby scip77 » Sun Feb 21, 2016 11:15 am

I put some strong magnet on oil filter at last time 2000kms oil change.

Today I apart it to check if there are remains of broken lifter. Seems like magnet can do some help.

They can work, if there is a good place to mount them so they can be "cleaned" at least occasionally.
I went with the Dimples magnetic drain plugs all around. Very strong magnets and serviceable with every fluid change.

I'm guessing the spring was from the pressure relief valve. Wouldn't the filter have caught those bits anyway without the magnets?
