Carb main spring

Postby africalight » Sat Oct 07, 2017 11:26 pm

Hello all,

Been working on getting the bike up and running again. Pulled the carbs off and it was bad. Left carb just needed cleaned a bit but the right carb was green. Thick green. Getting the green out is going to be some work. Tried to get carb rebuild kits from Harley but needed the Kawasaki instead.

One bit the was not included in the kit was the long skinny spring. Mine came out in two pieces. Any ideas on where to get a replacement? Just the spring.

Thanks,
Ryan

Assume you mean the main diaphragm spring. Try Heindl's. I think Jon may have an old carb around.

Also might give Sudco a call, they carry Keihin parts.

+1
Heindl's would be a good start. So would Holopaws or Crawfords. If that don't pan out as Lew mentioned above Sudco is the US importer for Keihin and Mikuni. No idea if the diaphragm spring is sold as an individual part or as part of a kit. Though the spring can break it's rare and not a commonly stocked replacement part but Sudco can clear up that point. I've dealt with the Sudco Tech Help phone line regarding Mik parts and found them very professional and helpful. On a side note: These carbs were also used on early Ninja's so you may have some luck at a Kawasaki dealer?

You can actually order that spring from UNE? Kind of surprising, I figured it would be one of those "not sold separately" deals.

No one else had them. Kawasaki dealer told me they only come with a new diaphragm. Madly expensive for just the springs. Ural NE had them listed on there website. Quite a deal.

the only inside green carbs I saw had the manifold to the cylinder broken or sat in the rain for years... best check the manifold and air filter hoses too.
