The cursed broken bolt head at the ring gear. Must be an 07 FD :mrgreen: BTDT :P

So where did the head of that bolt go? :?

I never knew there was a zerk fitting on that u joint! :oops: That's the "new" shaft style; mine originally came with a one piece shaft and no zerk fitting. I guess that's why I never bothered to look at it! :(

New hub spline and better button bolt . Grade 12.9.
old bolts are 10.9 grade

I have all parts .hopefully change out u joint and bench test fd.....ship out Wednesday

Thread with the rest of bolt is in the ring gear...

I'm using 12.9 grade bolts too. Unfortunately one got loose after 20,000km. Perhaps Loctite glue failed. Fortunately a hole in the FD case could be welded.

Van made a very cool video of him testing my final drive. Checking the lash play, powering it with a cordless drill in an awesome jig, putting it in 2wd while running, then stopping it and running it in reverse probably faster than it has ever gone in use, and checking the heat of the case while doing all this.

Van had the video on his facebook page.
