7" Black Stone Guard Headlight Cover

Postby Whitecoyote » Sat May 05, 2018 9:57 pm

I bought this off EBay. Paid nearly $25.00.
I can't get it to fit the Ural. Maybe someone can figure a way to use it. The cover is like new, comes with three clips.
$20.00 shipped to the lower 48.

The $20.00 for this item will be donated to Soviet Steeds Board.
I guess the best way to do this would be for the buyer to send a PayPal to Soviet Steeds for $20.00.
Or a check to myself and I'll make the donation. Whatever works best.

I never used the clips, I just placed it inside the headlight housing.

I drilled four small holes in the headlight bezel and tied the stone guard on with stainless steel lock wire, nice and tight, mine's been on for ten years and 80k Kilos. I'd like to say I threw the clips in the trash but I'm a bit of a hoarder so I still have them.

Alternatively, you can do what I did and use safety wire. Inside the headlight housings are 'winged' clips that keep the headlight in place. I wrapped safety wire around the clips inside and ran them out the front between the headlight and housing. Then put the headlight guard in place and wrapped the wire around making sure to pull it taut with pliers on each wind. On the last go around I ran the wire under the previous one and pulled as hard as I could, snipped off the excess and they've stayed put without issue. You can easily undo the wiring if you get too many bugs that you can't clean and safety wire is inexpensive.

Yes, exactly. I have them on my 'trol like that.

Yes! Sandwiched!

Not sure if you can see it but on both the main headlight and spotlight I sandwiched the stone guard.
You can see it better on the spotlight.

Only problem is cleaning the headlight. Need a brush with long bristles or a power washer.
