Any particular reason? I like the later SOATE (СОАТЭ) optical units, cheap and if they were re-progamable perfect. If IMZ hadn't screwed the various manufacturers by chopping and changing they might have ended up with a good cheap unit.

No Greg, I couldn't get the details out him. It might have something to do with installations holing piston when the incorrect map is selected. That's purely conjecture on my part. I mentioned to him that I had installed a C5 system on the '06 750 Ural in my Dnepr and his comment was, "waste of money" or something very close that.

I have no complaint with the unit after 1,000kM, it seems to perform well. I've got it rigged with a simple SPST switch, I just pay close attention to the road conditions, usually leaving it in "retarded" and moving to "advanced" only on relatively flat conditions. I was going to experiment with a VOES (vac op elec switch), but haven't had time. The only real concern I have about the C5 is the tiny gauge wires ( 26ga) that control it ... electrically more than sufficient ... mechanically, in a motorcycle environment, I wish they were heavier.

I'm curious about the unit Van has found. > viewtopic.php?f=11&t=48667

I have the ducati ignition on my97 sportsman, love it, motor runs cooler, accelerates better, starts easy, I believe 07 on up has the ducati ignition, you might be able to score one off a wrecked rig, lot of money but worth every dime, second hand one will be hard to come by, but not impossible!

I like what you said about the benefits of the Ducati. I was hoping that some one who has up grade to a PA ignition, wouldn't mind off loading their old Dutacti. :foilhead:
