Water proof trunk

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

That's how the 2018's are being marketed.
What is different from say a 2017?

Where does it say this? (Google search shows up diddly-squat.)

Mine (2016) does pretty well, has plastic beading all around the lid edges and along the front edge of trunk body.

It’s the modern marketing version of water resistant. I’ve owned a dozen boots that claimed waterproof - NOT

assume it will leak and proceed accordingly

Oh right yeah. "Every Ural comes standard with a lockable and water tight sidecar trunk."

In fact they've all got that same blurb. According to the accompanying "video" looks exact same as what I've got. So since 2016 then. Well like I said mine has worked very well so far, and in some really torrential downpours while riding and when left parked out in the rain.

Just do like CMSI did and put some weather stripping around the area where the lid and trunk meet.
We may not have it all together,
But, together we have it all.

Done that with both my 2003 and the 2015. Now I have a 2017 and did not think it water tight even with the new factory seal.
That's why I asked the question.

i think the water tight part has been lost in translation like so many foreign manuals, think water tight is a stretch should have said water resistant, like a watch. Resistant like under some circumstances water could get in.
