AWESOME!

Karla King posted on the SCT board for suggestions of who to interview- I sent her Matt and Kristen's info (gave her the link to this thread!). Looking forward to hearing them!

What a great trip report, I've done the Dempster by Jeep many years ago and hopefully will be able to do it by Ural in the not too distant future. Very well produced videos as well, and yes, I know it was in 2009 but I just found this post.

The Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway should be open in the fall of 2017. Too late in the season for me but I am planning to do this in 2018.

So it's been 8 years since our ride up to Inuvik on the Dempster Highway. In those 8 years, Kristen and I have frequently talked about finally getting the time to ride the final 120kms from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk on the ice road. It has been a life goal that I desperately wanted to accomplish.

Then, I saw this today: http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-40651184/arctic-highway-to-top-of-world-leads-to-hopes-and-fears

I didn't know it was happening, but they have extended the road to the top of the world with an all-season highway. I'm so sad.

Anybody know of any other ice roads to conquer!?

Or you could try the road and be up there the 21st or 22nd of June to to see the summer solstice, 24 hours of sunshine!

[quote="mightymatt43"]So I just turned 27 this past June and suddenly realized that my days of complete freedom were quickly coming to a close. "

Hey mightymatt43 and Kristen. I loved the trip report and want to encourage you with the other side. I am nearing 57 and my days of complete freedom are ahead of me. I wasn't fortunate to start riding motorcycles early, waiting until age 43.

I am trading my two wheeler in this weekend for a gear up if all goes well, and will begin learning to ride the Ural in preparation for some great trips with my bride of 34 years. We are looking forward to retirement and some grand adventures.

So let me encourage you by saying when you get to the end you will find it is the beginning of a new journey!

Blessings to you both and thanks for sharing this inspirational story. I wish you the very best life has to offer.

Joe
