Great report, I'm looking forward to the time when I can ride in the snow. Here I'll only get stuck in mud or sand!

Thanks for the ride report, Dave! Can't wait to get up in the snow to play, especially after last winter's lack of snow. We are sure making up for it this year.

We need to get a rope puller - thanks for the tip!

Howdy All,

Thanks for the replies, Mike and I had a lot of fun and about an hour of serious work getting my rig turned around before the sun went down. The danger of doing things like this ride is that they can go wrong in a heart beat, no cell service, a serious break down, getting dark, injured or working up a sweat and then getting cold, can really mess up your day. So having simple tools, spares like a clutch cable, a FULL set of throttle cables, spark plugs and something like a Massdam Rope Puller are a MUST when your pushing the envelope.

No matter where you live there are fun things to do, I too have gotten stuck in mud, sand, rocks, hung up on logs or simply caught in traffic, well getting caught in traffic ain't that much fun its better then just sitting on the couch listening to the clock tick you life away. So get out there and DO IT and then share it with the rest of the Uralista family.

Dave

Hi Mr. Cob,
A little off topic but what windshield does mike have? I like how it sits back from the headlight.
Thanks, Greg

Howdy Gerg,

Sorry, I don't have any idea of model or brand it is.

I took the Ural out on new years eve on pavement and out to find snow new years day. I found a lot of snow around 3000 ft in the coast range 10 miles up from my house and riding on logging roads and some ohv roads. The bad part was that the snow had been much deeper then rained on and frozen. The 4 wheel drive ruts were really bad. I was riding alone and took about as much of a risk as I wanted but did find I could keep the sidecar wheel in the rut most of the time and run the bike in the middle the snow was hard enough that I could keep up on top if I kept gopingt but had to work at getting going if I stopped so not to many pix and I coverd 60 km in 2 wd. and back to home.
