26 km (16.16 miles) @ +20°F. An evening ride from the gas station in College, AK, to the Silver Gulch microbrewery in Fox, AK. The riding part of the video is sped up 3x and just includes the ride along Farmers Loop Rd. This video has the GoPro mounted to the grab handle on the front fender of the rig as requested by NT8. A slightly different perspective. Very warm riding weather. No heated gear needed for this ride. Just a fleece liner under the Roadcrafter Light.
21km (13.05 miles) @ +18°F. This is the return trip home from (PBC #26) the Silver Gulch in Fox, AK. The temperature dropped a couple of degrees but I took the expressway since I knew that the road surface was mostly clear of ice. The GoPro is mounted on the grab handle on the front fender.
104 km (64.62 miles) @ -3°F. Rode around in large circles through College, Goldstream Valley, Fox and Fairbanks a couple of times. I thought that my heated gear had died again but it turns out that I had just forgotten to plug it in. Doh...
27 km (16.77 miles) @ +7°F. Just a short ride around town not really going anywhere. I didn't have as much time as I did yesterday. This video, like most of my PBC videos, are just meant to meet the requirements not to entertain so they are generally pretty boring.
70km (43.50 miles) @ -12*F. Another early morning ride into the university but I had a bit more time. Still having GoPro power problems. My new solution turned out to be unreliable so today was on battery power. Tomorrow I'll be back to the mini-USB plug sticking through the side of the case.
11 km (6.8 miles) +13°F. A mid-morning ride starting from the dog mushers hall heading east into town. The ride was cut short when I noticed that the temperature signs in town were reporting negative teen temperatures. So I ended PBC #36 and started to record PBC #37. After all, I can't skip a chance for another "Arctic Bear", eh?
47 km (29.2 miles) @ -13°F. A continuation of the ride that was begun with PBC #36. I noticed that the temperature was cold enough to warrant beginning a new ride. Good evidence that I may be too obsessed with these PBC rides. Maybe it's time to back off. After all, it's proving to not really be much of a "challenge" with heated gear, side car and studded tires.Though I do enjoy making the videos. Just they're not very interesting...
24 km (14.9 miles) @ +8°F. Almost triple speed video just to test out the GoPro camera. It kept re-booting in the past and I was curious to see it it'll stay running. It did and didn't re-boot for the rest of the ride. The ride itself was just the normal clockwise loop around the north side of town.
25 km (15.53 miles) @ -5°F. Just the regular morning loop with a stop for gas. Tried some time lapse and the GoPro seems to be working fine. The time-lapse was one frame every second. What isn't working now is the throttle side heated grip. What a pain. All of this aftermarket heated stuff seems to be unreliable and not designed for regular use.
