Thank's Lee and Art plus all the others that had something to do with making this happen. The location offered all one could ask for, trees, water and great roads. I met a bunch of great folks, saw some great rigs, befriended rally dogs and a new rally chicken and came home with the Pinto Pony saddle bags loaded with good cookies.

By the time I made a show at Ghost's camp out and arrived home about 10:45 I had ridden 671 miles on some great roads, with some verry windy, but what a great trip.

The Guzzi and leaner made the trip effortless.

Had a great time at the TURD. Thanks again to the SS TURD's for letting us join 'em.

Mrs. SwampFox said she counted 21 sidecars Saturday morning, with 9 Ural rigs :moto: including Jim's newly assembled Terraplane GL1200 with some homemade mounts shown in CleatusJ's last pic above.

We'll have pics as we find time to get 'em loaded. In the meantime, Charlie is on Holly Park's facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Holly-Par ... 030?ref=ts

Along with this young fellow:

And CleatusJ made the Pinto Pony's facebook winning the door prize -- 1st timer's luck  :

3 Urals and 1 Dneper rig participated in Friday afternoon's off-pavement exploratory ride thru the Sabine National Forest -- Oldtimer/SwampFox as monkey/navigator, kentsilk/Ana, Harold/son Corey and schdoja/niece Catherine (hope I've spelled the names correctly):
Image

The pics are from the phone since the card was full on the pocket camera -- really should check them things before you're out in the woods.

We rode along the lake -- Toledo Bend as seen from Oldtimer's sidecar:
Image

Through the pasture:

And into the forest:

Oldtimer setting the pace thru the mud  :

Followed by kentsilk trying out his 2-wheel drive :headbang: :
Image

And Harold on the Dnepr -- while it was still running :gahhh: :
Image

And schdoja, the black-masked bandit, making a big splash :moto: :
Image

Oldtimer was quite elated with dousing me with muddy water a little later in the ride. :x But it's payback for a couple of times I've doused him while out on our 250cc 2-wheelers. 8)

Of course, a TURD gathering wouldn't be complete without some Saturday afternoon wrenching :foilhead: :
Image

I even tried a little off-pavement exploring of Nine Mile Road on my Sportster rig, but didn't get very far. I can tell you this tho, my rig ain't no match for a Ural traversing a dirt/gravel road.
Image

And here's a sampling of the good-eats available Saturday evening - Art's tamales, Rosa's frijoles and Pittsburg hot links :hungry::

Many thanks to Lee and Al ( who was laid up and could not make it) for a really great gathering in the woods. Hot tamales, borracho beans, homemade ice cream, cookies, brownies and kindred spirits...what more could a Uralist want?

Yep, sorry I missed it...

I hate it when I miss a TURD....

Tradition holds that the next TURD is decided over Sunday breakfast. Has this been decided ? And if so, where ??

It was suggested that the Central Texas TURD's take the lead on the Fall TURD 2013.

My niece and I had a great time, she wants to go to the National Sidecar Rally in June. Thanks to all who brought all the great food.
Mud Pie, we were wondering if you have made two TURDS in a row.
By my unofficial count there were 9.5 Urals, 1 Dneper, and about 10 other rides there.
First TURD that I trailered to, I could get used to that.

As of late; I'd say I haven't made two TURDS in a row in quite a while.

Looks like I need some Metamucil or something so I can have regular TURDS once again...

Here's to hoping my life returns to normal this year; no more family deaths, over-work loads, broken body parts, etc..

I liked it when my life was mundane and boring.

ccjon is preparing for a ride from Key West, FL, to Deadhorse, AK, beginning in a few days.

There were so many rigs and bikes for the breakfast run on Saturday that the procession looked to be at least a half-mile long. Unfortunately we took only a couple on the way back . . .
