2011 Ural T

Postby mouka » Sat Feb 06, 2016 9:46 pm

Hi,

I was wondering how much would you guys pay for an extremely low mileage, pretty decent shape 2011 Ural T. Some dude in my town is asking what seems to be a fairly reasonable price for a 2011 rig. It has only about 3500 kilometers on the counter. Everything seems to be in great working order. It has some surface rust for sitting for extended periods of time in his barn. The owner has a farm smack dab in the middle of Naperville. He sells organic food and free range chicken besides having a day time job.
The tires on the rig are the original ones. The rear tire will need changing fairly soon. It still has a few hundreds of miles left in it. The bike does not come with a luggage rack or spare tire. It is a 1WD obviously. I got interested because I know that Ural has fixed some major issues after 2007: Denso alternator, Hertzog gears, and disk brakes among other things.
I did not want to post his asking price as I did not want to influence anybody.
Can someone please tell me what they would pay for a rig of this year?
i am going to sell mine that started running properly in my local CraigsList and jump on this one.

Thanks

I read somewhere all things equal a Ural drops about 1k in value every year. Obviously the price must stabilize sometime or they would all be free eventually...

A running, titled Ural bottoms out at around $2k in these parts, even for a 650.

When I built my R1150GS-Ural rig I cannibalized my 650 Tourist and sold it without the tub for $1500.

So in dollars and cents that would be how much?
If my math is correct, a Ural T sells for around $13000 before taxes. This being a 2011 should have lost about $4000 or $5000 from its original price. That should put it at around $7000 or $8000. Right?
KBB lists it at around $7800. So something is telling me my math is right.
The guy wants $5500 even for it. It has a few nice extras that are probably worth over $500. The guy is the original owner and he has all the maintenance records. Apart from sitting for an extensive period of time in a barn, it is in extremely good shape.

$5500 is reasonable IMO. You'll be buying into a completely different class of product, I recommend it.

I knew it was a good deal. It has all the newer improvements: Better alternator, better gears, disk brakes. I plan on installing the newer oil system. Someone was selling them for $150 a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know I would be getting another Ural.
I honestly couldn't care about EFI. It definitely makes the engine run better and saves on gas as the mpg goes up a little bit . It also eliminates completely the risk of hydrolocking the engine.
However, I think I am getting a decent looking, great running Ural at a 60% discount. That's not negligible in my book.
I will post pictures when the deal is finalized.

NadaGuides says it was 10k new and is now worth between 4k to 5.4k so I would say it is a fair deal with the low miles and some extras.

what new oiling system are you talking about??????? If you are talking about an oil cooling system it is a waste of money. Ural engines are too low pressure for them to work effectively.

The guy has changed his mind and now wants to trade it for a 4x4 vehicle. Preferably a Jeep of some sort.

There is no rush indeed. I have a somewhat working rig and it is teaching me the basics of mechanical work very fast. I will wait until the right rig comes around and I will definitely go for one that is 2007 or newer.

Huh? In the middle of a possible sale the guy changes his mind and won't take the cash he asked for???? He's a flake, walk away quickly.

M.S.R.P. on a 2011 Ural "T" was $9999.00 not including the usual set up/delivery charges, taxes
etc. Mine may be worth half of that but I would hate to spend $16000.00 for a new one until all of
the flaws and quality controls are worked out. I would ask him what his trade in offer is and go from there.
