Need some Ural information please

Postby ajp33ky » Sat Feb 06, 2016 3:20 pm

Calling all local Ural owners. I have been saving my pennies for almost a year now for a hack of some sort. I am 90% in favor of getting a Ural. However, I would still really like to get a closer look at one: ride in the car, ask you some questions, and maybe even drive it in a parking lot. I feel like a need a close encounter before I blindly spend 6-10 thousand on a toy, I might not like. I feel like you can understand where I am coming from. If you have a Ural or know someone that does, please consider giving me a shout. I am willing to meet any where relatively close to the Louisville, KY area. I am willing to provide gas money or maybe even a 6 pack (which is crazy because I don't drink).

Thanks in advance
Aaron

I am aware of Heindl. I got a feeling a will be making a trip up there during Spring Break ( I am a teacher). It would just be nice to find someone within 50 miles of my house to start with. Thank you for the reply and heads up.

I agree on Heindls, they are a great dealer. My wife has a sidecar on her Sportster and I have a Ural, I find the Ural handles better, brakes better with a brake on the sidecar, and love the fact it has reverse. Compared to a 2003 883 Sportster an EFI Ural isn't very much slower either.

Thats the kind of info I like to hear. I have struggled with getting a ural or putting a car on my triumph. I feel like I will be happier with a ural as long as it is 2008 or newer. Thanks burt1713

Year-By-Year from Terry's website:

Has anyone mentioned you should make the trip to Heindl's :)
And if you did go this weekend there will be plenty of older rigs and owners there to talk to as well, great opportunity. Not always that way when they are not having an Open House. 3 hour ride for a $10,000.00 investment + or - = smart teacher.

Glad to be of assistance. Another point in favor of the Ural is a parking brake, my driveway is on an incline.

Parking brake on EFI Urals is very touchy. On mine, if I adjust it to work at all, it drags a little in the off position. Didn't have that problem on the carb Ural. I don't really use the parking brake in flat Florida anyway.
I may not be good, but I'm slow.

WOW, That proves Black & Chrome tourists are faster - mine wants to roll, & needs to be restrained on flat ground.

My advice - Go to Heindls open. House Saturday. Feb 20. Look at new & used. Buy one there or from SS Black Market listings.

Nope. that just proves that it's smart and trying by its own volition to get out of FL.
