Look at my GREAT URAL JACK

Postby INSUBORDINATOR » Sat Feb 07, 2015 8:46 pm

I picked this up recently to keep in my Ural tourists trunk. I will screw a block of 2x6" wood under it to ad stability & height. I had one just like it for my 1994, & looked hard to find another. Notice the crescent cradle shaped top piece, it will grab & support any frame tube you put it under. I used it today on the left side of my rear axle to lift the rear wheel t& turn the engine, while adjusting my valves. This cast iron Jack may easily date back to the Ford Model T. It's real easy to use & perfectly suited for a Ural. They show up at car swap meets, antique/junk shops, & on Ebay. Wanted to share this Gem with you, because I cant imagine a better sidecar outfit jack.

Best Wishes, Craig in North Port FL.

Cool jack. Looks like it belongs. How tall is it fully collapsed?

It is about 10" tall when collapsed. The threaded portion disappears into the base. To answer another question, it is made in the USA, of genuine CAST IRON. The crescent cradle on top is stamped steel & pivots, This is the feature that makes it uniquely practical for motorcycle sidecar combos. It is probably at least 80 years old. I'm using it as found now, but intend to screw a wood base to it, after I clean & paint it black with a white tipped handle.

That may be a Model T jack. My dad has one and it looks an awful lot like that one.

Still love the Jack, Looks great in gloss black with white tip on handle. I even fond a stiff leatherette tool bag in my stuff that fits it perfectly, with room for the spout of my Nato Gas Can. Very tidy & well organized in my trunk now.
