Has anyone installed a tach w/ Power Arc ignition ?

Postby bakerchp18 » Tue Nov 14, 2017 4:42 pm

I have my Rig at the dealer right now and they are having an issue getting the tach to play nice with the PowerArc C5 ignition.
I am told it reads properly at lower RMP's and as the RPM's increase it gets erratic and doesn't read accurately.
The rig is a 2009. Any ideas ? Thoughts ? Suggestions ? (Other than, why do you want a tach ) :D
Thank you.

always good here. but if you have a loose cable or shorts it will always blimp down to 0% and up to 100%.
check for bad connection or pinched cables as well for water inside the front cover.

With a DIY foam air filter the rig runs well even in tropical rain. The air box looks then like an aquarium. :moto:

My Koso G2 works fine with the C5 ignition. The only issue I have is when the tach is cold, below freezing, it will mis-read for a few minutes until it warms up, but I suspect it's the tach and not the C5. Tach needs to plug into the C5 tach lead (green wire?), if your shop is trying to get the tach to read off the plugs, the triple spark of the C5 will likely mess with it.

Have a PowrArc and tach setup on my '12. Use the green tach lead and you'll be fine. If not I'd look for a bad wiring conection.
