EFI Ural engine : here is it !

Postby cubituscubitus » Wed Apr 01, 2009 6:54 am

Howdy All,
here's what IMWA will offer on 2010: a new 850 cc Ural block with EFI and a 5-speed gearbox.
More torque, more power and better milleage per gallon.
Here's a smuggled picture.

Did you ask how many km that engine made before it blew up? Last time I saw it was a few years ago on the back of an IMZ truck. It made 30-40 km.

IMZ can make 1000 cc engines - the M-73 is proof of that. 5-speed gearboxes were made in the 1980's. It takes management AND money. Neither are available. Back in the 1960's IMZ made a 1040 cc engine, tyres weren't available. A trip into the Irbit State Motorcycle Museum shows what IMZ can do. Management has never toured!

Sadly, the joke is on us. :(
All the stuff mentioned is possible...just not a market for it.
If their was, Honda would be cranking them out.
Like someone said, it takes management and money
the world economy ain't got for Russian motorcycle building.
Oh well. Hopefully the Mothership in Irbit can stay afloat though this thing and things will improve. :) Gotta' be an optimist....

maybe not the EFI part (not for a few years yet), but the 850cc motor with the 5-speed gearbox was a joke by Theirry.
