I'm in but suspicious of any group that would have me as a member.

Exactly. (but I'm in)

Something like 3.5 years ago I suggested that the SS mods, owners, or volunteers, add a live chatroom so those of us who like keyboard chatting can visit informally in the evenings or on weekends...it was after all, a type of social media alternative...

Everyone that responded was against it...here I was the new guy...who needs a chatroom, that's for yahoo rejects...etc etc blah blah blah...we dont need no stinking chatroom...

Some openly expressed ridicule...

NOW I get to laugh...

FACEBOOK? babies and weddings? drama? people from your high school? NSA and CIA security breeches? drama? And dont get me started on ol zuckerberg...

And then there's all that drama...

No, not really. I did get a message from someone that is up around Macomb that was interested in offroading. I got so busy at work and didn't reply. Now, I can't find his info.

Other than that, I haven't ran into too many Ural rider in my area.

Facebook isn't perfect. But a lot of folks prefer it. We've got close to 400 people in the Soviet Steeds Facebook group and the number grows everyday. Many of those folks have never been to the Soviet Steeds forums, so it's outreach in a new direction.

I could look into maybe opening a Google chat page, but folks beyotch and complain about Google as much as Facebook.

Up to over 3,000 members on the Soviet Steeds Facebook group page. I didn't expect that kind of response.

Then again, I didn't expect the response I got from the forums site either. Almost 10 years going...
