Re: Do you know the trick in picture?

By disconnecting it where he did bypasses most of the ducting and air filter.

Now that makes sense. All the science I needed. Thanks.

I think only 1400 Terraplanes were ever made.

Re: Suggestions for pinion seal replacement?

So you're saying to completely disassemble the final drive? Do I need special tools to set the gear lash or anything? Just the steely resolve to do it, and a tube of lipstick to smear on the pinion gear to indicate the contact patch. My final drive is an '06 and I didn't have to adjust anything to ...

I can certainly appreciate the mechanical ingenuity it took to out this rig together ... but it makes my brain hurt. The RS fairing had me goin' there for a moment.

Re: Like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes...

Outstanding Rob! I went the other way in 1970, found my '47 in boxes in a barn in southern Indiana, chopped it, learned the errors of my ways ( and have regretted it ever since) and commenced collecting parts to restore it to "original" condition (which it could never be (compared to yours...

Re: Suggestions for pinion seal replacement?

I'd only suggest that while you have the final drive out that you take it all the way down, rather than " somewhat apart ". Age is a troublesome as mileage, and you'll know for sure what's under you ( or in this case, what's behind you). I took mine apart inside of one of those flimsy dry ...

Re: R71 Replica

So perhaps instead of using the word "replica" [ a copy exact in all details (Webster) ], the seller should have used the word "resemblance" [ a likeness, appearance, or semblance of something ]. Machts hier nicht! I'd just like to see how the final drive, any final drive (German...

just serious about seeing how (and what) the final drive is. It is a BMW rear hub. As I mentioned above, I'd buy it too.

Re: movie RAILROAD TIGERS

Would you recommend this movie for me to show at Holopaw Gene's, "HUG" rally? Is it family friendly?

Hey, it's by Jackie Chan, of course it's family friendly! And it looks like fun, a typical Jackie action flick full of CJs

Re: R71 Replica

Be interesting to get a close-up of the final drive to see how he integrated it with the plunger. Sure can't see much, that's for sure. One clean machine, Gene! edit, check out the spin-on oil filter on the front of the engine... definitely BMW rear hub, BMW control perches. THIS machine, I would b...

Crikey! If Chip Foose can cut custom wheels from billet for his cars, why can't we have 'em for our rigs... other than we'd probably be able to buy a new rig for the price of one wheel... mm m m, guess I answered my own question... .. :?
