Re: New rider, etiquette on motorcycle runs

Also remember large groups usually display the inchworm effect, slow-faster-slow, with the occasional PANIC STOP!!!!!! Which if you are running drums can be exciting :bs: . Double++ on back of group and ride your own ride - turtle to their hare. But you arrive alive :boogie:

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Replaced almost treadless Avon with Heidenau K28. Let it cook in a black trash bag for an hour before mounting (took almost that long to get the avon off it had been on so long). Still a bit of a bear but the baja tire tool made the last inches easy.

Re: engine pause

Check your maiin grounding connection (back of tranny). Thought I had a BRS problem, but a good clean and tighten of the ground fixed it.

Re: New Owner questions - Cleaning, securing, oils

My step one is to leave it in reverse - unless they know the bike, even if they get it started they got a problem going anywhere.

Step two, disc lock, cable lock, or U-lock. Anything to slow them down. If they brought a truck and lift gear - has anybody actually stolen a Ural that way?

Re: Oil

Gene at Holopaw suggested Dino until 5,000 km, then whatever. Followed his advice. Used Rotella as well. Now Redline. Happy engine.

But you are still under warranty. So if it comes to a rebuild and the mothership does it, you know it will be good.

Re: Should I trade?

A question I ask myself frequently. My 2010 is running fine with minimal mods (Windmill MkIII air filter being the first thing done, and spin on oil filter the second). Engine in a pulling great (41000km+) Gene once advised me the EFI fuel gains were not enough of a reason to trade (first of the EFI...
