Re: CRAP RALLY 4-6 May 2018 Asheboro NC

All concerned: A completed plan for the execution of CRAP will be issued in the next couple of days. Will need to do some task delegation in order to make this a success. FYI: During the awards ceremony on Saturday evening there will be a mystery box up for raffle. This box is worth many hundreds o...

Re: M70 Question

The problem I had was I dragged the brake if I didn't rest my foot on the sidecar frame. Since I was not comfortable with doing either, I moved the pedal so my right foot is on the peg without touching the pedal, like the left foot. It only took a day to get used to it. I see, a few folks had compl...

Re: Ural accessories.

I almost bought a Russian nesting doll keychain for my new Gear Up...... Now I have this mental image straight out of a horror movie..... The panic stricken uralista fumbling with his Russian nesting doll key chain, frantically trying to open each one to get his key out.... only to have it fly out ...

Re: Riding to Alaska tips.

Done it 3 times, but not on a Ural, yet. New Copy of Alaska Milepost will save one some grief. Lately gas stations come and go, some of the old lodges are long gone. They keep "improving" the road to increase speed, but take your time. Moose, Bear and Bison are big and don't care to get ou...

Re: M70 Question

Remember the cT, GU and Patrol all share the same bike frame. The M70 and Retro use a different frame. Some people find that the M70 frame is too cramped for overall leg room on both sides. The hack frame is lower on the cT than the GU so I find it’s comfortable to slide my right foot over and rest...

Re: Why does my spare tire say warning temporary use only?

Someone (my code for someone whose name I am not gonna use so they keep telling me stuff) said something about the rear wheel having shorter spokes so the torque won't break them, yeah, sure 41ft-lbs of massive torque...sure...that must be it...that does not explain the cT now does it? The consider...

Re: 1990 Dnepnr or 2011 tourister?

They couldn’t be more different. It’s like contemplating an AMF-era Harley versus a modern one. Are you more interested in riding or wrenching? Well said, that is a perfect answer for the question, even if it does ask a question in answering one! One more thing comes to mind. Are US Urals even allo...

Re: Why does my spare tire say warning temporary use only?

You can use the rear "disk wheel" on the sidecar, but you won't have a brake...Windmill is right, it won't fit 'cause it would be backwards. Remember, that wheel is for all practical purposes a drum hub, so it makes sense that the side with the plastic cover (that covers the old drum that ...

Re: Did a Russian get a little too close to a test Ural?

The head dimensions and size of cooling fins seems the same as all Ural 750 heads. I doubt that four valves could fit. Also there are pushrod tubes and the cylinder looks the same so no place for cam chain. My guess is that they just replaced center bolt with four corner bolts. The reason might be ...

Always wondered how the Wellston family felt about that... :|
