Re: BMW conversion to Ural/Dnepr

Has anyone ever been able to mate not just a BMW engine but the drive-train as well to a Ural? Got be a lot of chopping and welding I'd think but anything is possible. It would have to be the complete drivetrain......engine, gearbox, and final drive...... By that time, might just better buy a BMW.

Re: Would you buy a Ural if there was no dealership around?

I've been repairing/maintaining my motorcycles all my life but never owned a motorcycle that there were no dealers around, Can you own a Ural bike with no dealer in the close proximity? There's a few Used one that comes up for sale in the region once in a while cause there used to be a dealer but i...

YMMV

Lol
I see you never take injector off!

Re: Increased Oil Consumption (or How Tough are Urals)

Hmmm. But you don't know when the damage occurred... Just when it started using more oil. Can you pin the start of excess oil usage to a highway run? (thats when my damage occurred, I believe) I'm good for a Guinness now, whenever we cross paths. OR, see below for instant gratification... <grin> IM...

Mine happened with the OR1.02 map. I ran the original map up until OR1.02 came out.

Re: Increased Oil Consumption (or How Tough are Urals)

Question: did you find out what caused it or when? A period of pinging or high heat, cracked intake manifold, some mechanical faux pas (not accusing your exceptional mechanical skills;-)), anything? Never did figure out what caused it.....seems to be detonation. There are more EFI bikes out there t...

Re: Increased Oil Consumption (or How Tough are Urals)

The bike ran great. No real clue but this d@mned milkshake bath on the rear of the bike when my catchment tank would overflow after a ride. After dealing with this for some time, maybe months, then getting it back from the dealer, I did a compression check. It revealed one cylinder (the sidecar cyl...
