Re: Thinner winter oil vs changing too soon

There were some cases when motorbike wet clutch didn't work properly when high specs car oil was filled in. Using motorbike oil in simple Ural engine can't hurt anything just you are probably paying more for something with no effect on dry clutch engine. Car oil is usually cheaper than equal motorbi...

Re: Thinner winter oil vs changing too soon

15w50 car engine oil works fine for me all year. Cold starts easy down to 0*F. I've done cold start at -15*F once and it cranked uneasy. However Ural engine has no oil pressure lubricated sleeves, it has roller and ball bearings all around. Which makes it quite insensitive for oil viscosity.

Re: Custom Transmission Gearing

Question: on a solo do you guys actually ever use reverse anyway? I could see in the woods being helpful if your bike is set-up for that kind of duty. ... I use reverse on Dnepr solo everytime I have to back up a slope. For example when a bike is parked front towards a side walk, road slope is typi...

Re: Custom Transmission Gearing

The low 1st gear of 37/9 is a standard gearing for Dneprs but is only fitted to MT16 models from the factory. Do you know anything about 8 teeth 1st gear shaft for Dnepr 804 gearbox? One local Dnepr guru owns one bud he couldn't get any other piece in last 30 years. I consider fitting Dnepr 804 gea...

Re: Custom Transmission Gearing

I guess that the 5th speed is for Dnepr MT804 gearbox only. The Dnepr gearbox is approx 15mm (9/16") longer than Ural gearbox because Dnepr reverse is basically an independent 5th gear set while Ural reverse is sort of shiftable spur gear that uses 1st and 2nd speed gears for function.

Re: Did i just ruined a perfect good cvk carb bowl?

My 2005 drain bolt thread size is M6x0.75
The 0.75mm pitch is fine thread, common M6 pitch is 1.0mm

Re: Did i just ruined a perfect good cvk carb bowl?

Ok, just more details, my 2005 bowl drain chamber is 15mm long with 5mm inner diameter. The M6 thread is 10mm long. The overflow tube opens to that last 5mm area, drain channel down the floor opens to chamber the same far. The bolt tip diameter is 3.7mm, M6 threaded thick part does not go deep enoug...

Re: Did i just ruined a perfect good cvk carb bowl?

Thanks Gobium, It seems like Keihin changed drain chamber diameter. Or is the tube pressed too deep? My 2005 Keihin chamber inner diameter is 5mm with M6 thread 2/3 way in. While valve screw tip od is 3.7mm so enough clearance for overflow gas to leak around the tip. If the new bowl drain chamber bo...

Re: Did i just ruined a perfect good cvk carb bowl?

Dneprlover> As he corrected, he actually used 1/8" bit and resin. I chosen to grind 3mm bit sides a little to get narrower bore so I could press 3mm tube in instead. The bore is shallow because of drain chamber below so I don't trust a resin. I'm curious what could go wrong. Either tube length ...

... the only other idea, didn't you press the tube too deep inside drain valve chamber?

Re: Did i just ruined a perfect good cvk carb bowl?

Cracked the alu bowl? 1/8 is too much over 3/32. The bore should be not more than 5% smaller than tube diameter.

My 3mm tube works fine for 3 years.

Re: A few queries Dnepr MT10

It's a choke. Mechanical advance for SV engines has single small control lever on left handle bar. I can't imagine it mounted on Dnepr OHV engine.
There is no way to tune up K301 good enough. Engine will run better with any other type carburetors, both older and newer.

Re: re power a ural?

I've just drilled center of carburetor bowls and pressed in piece of 3mm brass tube Picture? John I could remove bowl from my rig to take a picture but it looks same as picture posted by LMO. I bought 3mm brass tube (at RC hobby shop) for $2 or similar negligible cost. Copper tube would be too soft...

Re: re power a ural?

D10 is not bullet proof if you dont kick first before using e starter Hydro lock will tweet the crankshaft. Not necessary. I've just drilled center of carburetor bowls and pressed in piece of 3mm brass tube so any excessive gas just overflows down the floor instead of inside the cylinder. The bowl ...
