Re: Portable air compressor

Not one I would recommend but lotsa choices avail. My current one is a brand I don't know/remember cause I haven't used it in years and it's buried somewhere in my trunk. My neighbor has my old conversion pump that he still uses 15 years later to top off tires on his 4 cars. Still works fine and was...

Re: Hypothetically..... which would you choose?

If hypothetically in exact brand new showroom condition. It'd come down to intended use and expectations and what type of grief/expenses/work you're willing to deal with? As in your judgement on the pros/cons of carb-vs-EFI or disc-vs-drum. Other than that, there aren't really many greater mechanica...

Re: 2018 Gear Up Seat Removal - Battery tender connection

My sincere condolences to you and you family regarding your father passing and may he RIP.
Don't think IMZ changed the seat mount in the last few years so there should also be two bolts at the rear of the seat that bolt to the fender.

Re: Donut replacement

Yeah Mike they did. I think 2010(?) they tried syn donuts that failed miserably and in 011(?) they went back to rubber. Pretty much all rubber today is natural rubber and a syn mix but the later ones seem more syn (brittle) than rubber. That's speculation on my part not absolute fact.

Re: Left cylinder is dead????

This weekend I plan to remove the cylinder and remount making sure all is clean and in specs. The cyl isn't your problem. No need to pull the jug so save your labor. Look at your float circuit. The needle tip is likely worn or there's crud in the seat and not closing. You may have previously bugger...

Re: Donut replacement

I think "smoother" will depend on the donuts current condition. The donut I replaced on an 06 wasn't worn much and wasn't causing a vibration. The holes were going just slightly oblong. I noticed the wear during normal maint, I had a spare so replaced it. Didn't feel the need to but I had ...

Re: smokin

At first start up after a rebuild? Your new rings aren't seated in the new bores yet. It's like a new motor ya gotta do the initial break-in drill. No high reving, high speeds, no lugging and vary speeds often. Generally means not over 50 mph for 500 miles. If you just did the top end without doing ...

Re: Left cylinder is dead????

Today I checked the ignition and spark and it's all good.

Curious, how good was the spark? Yellow/orange thin wisp of a spark (poor) or nice fat blue spark (good)? On a ten year old 07 theres a good chance plug wires/caps are going south resulting in a weak spark.

Re: I think I need new carb diaphragms

Glad you got it worked out. Your numbers/terminology confuse me though(I confuse easily). 65's are your "starting" jets and only come into play with the enrichers on. Those should never need to be swapped. Stock jetting on an 04 should be around 125 main's and 38 idle(pilot). My 06 ended u...

If by chance your non stock fishtails are Modtop cans you can likely trade yours for stock cans.

Welcome. For a new Ural, buying from a knowledgable dealer is critical to starting with a properly set-up rig. Congrats Heindl's is one of the good ones.
Enjoy.

Re: How many miles on a new URAl Gear Up

Don't know about "out of the crate" but I would expect "some km" upon delivery from the dealer. After assembly the dealers do a PDI (pre delivery inspection). There is a form supplied by IMWA to the dealer with a list of things to check after assembly. the yellow(my) copy was inc...
