Ultimate Man Tool

Got an early Father's Day gift from my oldest daughter today. It is a vintage 1950's Hohn Fish Scaler.
In addition to the fish scaler, it has a bottle opener and tits--what more could I want?

Re: Powder coat is awful.

I haven't seen powder coat hold up well in any application. Any minute pin hole and moisture will wick in causing corrosion, bubbles and peeling.

The only powder coat for me is powdered sugar on a donut.

Re: Chain Saw Heaven

Back in the day we used saws like this McCulloch 125cc, about 8 hp. Just start one up and trees fell over.

Re: Installing new gaskets. Do I need sealant or special paste?

Use them dry. Have fun scraping off the old base gasket!

Since you are removing or have already removed the cylinders, take the time to replace the push rod tube seals (and note they have a small
mark that should go on the top).

No one can own Valentina--they just pay money for the privilege of being her pimp for a while.

She was a fine a fine running 650 when JohnBG had her.

Just Walking Her Dog------

This doesn't happen often, but there are plenty of large gators around here. I saw four over twelve feet long in a three mile stretch of a creek
while boating last month.

The Italian tire irons are worth the price of the tool roll.

Thanks for the praise.
I have a 6 X 12 metal lathe and a mini milling machine. This is the sort of stuff I have done:

Re: 2018 CT Projects Finished

I cheat. Although the welds look good beforehand, I grind and fill them before painting.
I enjoy fabrication work on a small scale.

2018 CT Projects Finished

I finished my rear rack this weekend and layed on some clear coat. I had also sanded down my ten year old spare gas can bracket, painted it last week and shot it with the clear coat when I did the rack. The rear rack mounted by the two forward bolts at the rear sub frame, and the two screws at the b...

Re: Odd Sunday ride

I was told the reason Harley riders don't wear helmets is that the rear cylinder sucks their brains out.

It is ironic that the Florida Abate director some years ago died from head injuries when she crashed her motorcycle.

Loud valves safe lives.

I was looking for a small torch to heat and loosen Ural brake rotor hex head screws if I need transfer a rotor to my spare wheel in order to use it. I found this one at Tractor Supply in the sale bins at the front of the store. It was $9.99 and uses butane. The torch and a butane refill cartridge do...
